Today View

Add Widgets to Today View

Want quick access to the things that matter most on your iPhone or iPad? Add Widgets to Today View to give you important information at a glance without digging through apps. They keep your home screen cleaner, help if you prefer larger text, and put essentials right where you can see them.

Why use Today View widgets?

Widgets let you see important info at a glance without opening apps.

  • See weather, calendar appointments, reminders, and health info quickly.
  • Reduce clutter on your home screen and make your device easier to navigate.
  • Large widgets offer bigger, more readable text, which is especially helpful for seniors.
  • Easy to add, rearrange, or remove whenever you want.

Step-by-step: Add a widget to Today View

These steps work the same on iPhone and iPad. Follow along slowly and take your time arranging things the way you like.

  1. Make sure your device is unlocked and on your home screen. Then swipe from the left to the right until you arrive at the Today View.

  2. Touch and hold a blank part of the Today View screen until the items begin to jiggle.

  4. Use the search bar or scroll the list to find the widget you want. For example, type “weather” to locate weather widgets.

  5. Choose the widget and pick a size. Widgets commonly come in small, medium, and large sizes. The larger sizes often show more details and bigger text.

  6. Tap Add Widget to place it into your Today View. Drag the widget up or down to position it exactly where you want.

  7. If a widget supports resizing, you may see a gray handlebar on the corner. Drag the corner to adjust the size, then tap Done in the top right when you are finished.

Remove or rearrange widgets

Not happy with a widget? It is simple to remove or move it later.

  1. Open Today View and press and hold the widget you want to change.
  2. Choose Remove if you want it gone and confirm the removal.
  3. To rearrange, press and hold any widget and drag it to a new spot. Place the most important items near the top.

Practical tips and best practices

  • Start small. Pick one or two widgets at first so Today View is not overwhelming. You can add more later.
  • Use large-size widgets when possible. They display bigger text and are easier to read.
  • Watch battery usage. Avoid adding many widgets that update constantly, such as live news or high-frequency feeds.
  • Arrange smartly. Put the most important widgets near the top so you do not have to scroll to see them.
  • Avoid excessive switching. If you find yourself flipping into Today View and back frequently, consider fewer widgets and keep essentials on the home screen instead.
  • Check after updates. New iOS versions sometimes add new widgets. Revisit the widget gallery after upgrades to explore new options.

Example arrangement

A simple, readable order to try:

  1. Weather at the top for a quick glance at conditions.
  2. Calendar next so you see upcoming appointments.
  3. Reminders or Notes so essentials are visible without opening apps.

Adding widgets to Today View is an easy way to personalize your iPhone or iPad and make it more senior friendly. Try a few different widgets and sizes until you find the setup that feels comfortable and useful.

Leave a comment below and share which widget you added first. Small changes like these can make daily device use simpler and more enjoyable.
