How to Save Websites in Notes on iPhone and iPad

Save a Website From Safari to Notes

Start by opening the website you want to keep in Safari. It can be any useful page, such as a hotel listing, a recipe, a product page, or an article you want to read again.

  1. Locate the Share button in Safari. It looks like a square with an arrow pointing upward.
  2. On iPhone or iPad, the Share button may appear at the bottom of the screen or near the upper-right corner, depending on how Safari is arranged.
  3. Tap the Share button to open the share sheet.
  4. Find and tap Notes.

The share sheet gives you a quick path from any Safari page directly into Notes.

A small Notes window will appear. This is the important part that makes the system useful later: add a few words that explain why you saved the page.

For example, you might write:

  • Smoky Mountains for travel information
  • Easy chicken dinner for a recipe
  • Hotel ideas for Florida for vacation planning
  • New iPhone tips for helpful Apple information

Do not leave this area blank if you can help it. A short description gives you something memorable to search for later. When you are finished, tap Save. The web page is now safely stored in a note, even after you close Safari.

Create a Simple Folder for Saved Websites

Saving every website as a separate note is perfectly fine. But if you save links often, it helps to create one folder in Notes called Saved Websites.

On an iPad, open Notes and tap the folders button in the upper-left corner to display your folders. On an iPhone, tap the back arrow until you reach the folder list. Then tap New Folder, enter a name such as Saved Websites, and save it.

One Saved Websites folder is often all you need to keep useful links from getting scattered.

The next time you save a Safari page to Notes, you can choose that folder as its location.

You can also create a few broad folders if that feels more natural. For example:

  • Recipes
  • Travel
  • Health information
  • Shopping
  • iPhone tips

Just do not create too many folders. The goal is to make life easier, not to create another organizing project. For most people, one Saved Websites folder is enough.

This is especially helpful when you are planning something and do not want every website in its own separate note.

For example, you could create one note called Smoky Mountains and keep hotel ideas, restaurant links, places to visit, and even a packing list together in that one note. Or make a note called Favorite Recipes and add several recipe websites there.

When you find another website to add, return to Safari and use the same Share button process:

  1. Tap the Safari Share button.
  2. Tap Notes.
  3. Instead of saving as a new note, tap where it says New Note.
  4. Search for the note you already created by typing a word from its title, such as “Smoky.”
  5. Select the existing note.
  6. Add a quick label such as “hotels,” then tap Save.

Choose an existing note from the search results to gather related websites in one place.

Now the links stay together in one easy place to find. This is a wonderful system for organizing a vacation, collecting holiday recipes, comparing shopping options, or keeping track of information you may need again.

Once you have saved websites in Notes, finding them is simple. Open the Notes app and tap the search icon, usually in the upper-right corner.

Type any word you remember from the note. Notes can search titles and words inside your notes, so you might search for:

  • Chicken for a saved recipe
  • Florida for vacation information
  • iPhone for device tips
  • Smoky for your Smoky Mountains planning note

This is exactly why those short descriptions matter. They give Notes useful words to search, rather than leaving you to scroll through dozens of Safari tabs or hunt through messages and email.

A single trip-planning note can hold several saved website links and other helpful information.

When the note appears, tap it. Then tap the saved website preview or link inside the note, and your iPhone or iPad will take you back to that web page.

Pin Important Notes to the Top

If there is a note you need often, you can pin it to the top of your Notes list.

Press and hold the note, then choose Pin. Pinned notes remain at the top of the list, which is especially useful for a trip you are actively planning, a favorite recipe collection, or a note filled with frequently used information.

Pinning keeps your most useful reference notes close at hand instead of letting them disappear down the list.

What If Notes Does Not Appear in the Share Sheet?

If you tap the Share button in Safari and do not see Notes, you can add it back to the share sheet.

  1. Open the Safari share sheet.
  2. Swipe through the app options until you find More.
  3. Tap More, then tap Edit.
  4. Find Notes in the list.
  5. Turn on the toggle next to Notes if it is off.
  6. To make Notes easier to find next time, tap the plus sign to add it to Favorites.
  7. Tap the checkmark when you are finished.

Turn Notes on in the share sheet and add it to Favorites so it is always easy to reach.

Once Notes is enabled, it should be much easier to find whenever you want to save a web page.

A Small Habit That Saves a Lot of Frustration

The next time you find a website you do not want to lose, remember this simple routine:

  1. Open the page in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share icon.
  3. Tap Notes.
  4. Write a few words about why you saved it.
  5. Save it as a new note or add it to an existing note.

That small habit turns the Notes app into a simple personal reference folder. It is much easier than depending on open tabs, text messages, or trying to remember where you saw something helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I save a website to Notes on both iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Open the page in Safari, tap the Share button, choose Notes, add a short description, and save it.

Can I add more than one website to the same note?

Yes. In the Notes save window, tap New Note, search for an existing note, select it, and save the new link there.
