How To Check and Delete Voicemail On Your iPhone
Learning how to play voicemail and delete messages on your iPhone is easy. You’ll never miss another message!
- Tap Phone icon
- Choose voicemail at the bottom right corner
- Tap on the voicemail you’d like to listen to
- Tap the play icon. You can also tap the speaker icon to play the message on speaker.
- You can tap the phone icon to call the person who left you the message.
- Tap the Delete icon if you don’t want or need to save the message. It will save room in your voicemail inbox.
Visual Voicemail On Your iPhone
Now that we’ve learned how to set up, listen and delete the voicemail, it’s time to learn how to use the Visual Voicemail feature. Apple’s voicemail to text feature takes your voicemail and transcribes it so you can easily read your phone messages. The feature is easy to use but can be a little problematic.
- Open the Phone app
- Tap Voicemail at the bottom right corner
- Choose the voicemail you want to read
- You’ll see the transcription below the play option of the voicemail
The transcription isn’t always perfect, but you’ll get an overall idea of what the person was speaking to. You can choose to listen by hitting the Play option or simply delete it.
If the Voicemail Transcription was way off, you could let Apple know by using the “Was this “transcription useful” or not useful” link. A pop-up will appear and let you know that your message will be sent to Apple for improving the service. Finally, you can hit submit or cancel.
How To Turn Off Visual Voicemail
Maybe you hate this feature and want to turn it off. Sadly Apple didn’t include a way to do this. So instead, contact your carrier to see if there’s a way to disable it on their end.
Visual Voicemail Not Working
Visual voicemail only works on the iPhone 6s or newer. If you have a capable phone, but it’s not working correctly, try resetting your Network Settings:
- Open Settings App
- Tap General
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Transfer or Reset iPhone
- Select Reset
- Now choose Reset Network Settings
- Enter your password and confirm
You’ll need to re-enter any Wi-Fi passwords after your Network Settings have been reset.
